Conventional pediatrics, with nutrition taken seriously
Dr. Ashir's practice has always leaned toward what is now called integrative or functional medicine: mainstream pediatric care that pays real attention to the nutritional side of a child's health.
What "integrative" means here
Integrative pediatrics is not an alternative to mainstream medicine — it is mainstream medicine, informed by nutrition. Dr. Ashir is an MD who trained and practices in conventional hospitals and clinics, and who additionally trained through the Medical Academy of Pediatrics and Special Needs (MAPS) and the American College for Advancement in Medicine (ACAM) to bring nutritional and biomedical perspectives into everyday pediatric care.
Every child is evaluated as a whole: growth, development, diet, and family context — not a single symptom in isolation.
Areas of care
General outpatient pediatrics
Day-to-day pediatric care for infants, children, and adolescents at Tug River Catterson Health Center in Pineville, West Virginia — four days a week.
Nutritional pediatrics
Nutrition-oriented evaluation and guidance as part of routine care — the thread that has run through Dr. Ashir's practice for decades.
Autism & related conditions
Integrative evaluation and care planning for children on the autism spectrum, drawing on MAPS training and years of experience with families in the United States and abroad. Offered in person and through online consultations.
IV nutritional therapy
Additional training in IV nutritional therapy, including the Myers' cocktail, alongside ACAM certification in IV chelation therapy.
Wondering if this approach fits your child?
The easiest way to find out is a conversation. Families anywhere in the world can arrange an online consultation; families in southern West Virginia can be seen in the clinic.
